Open Company

You can open a company using open company dialog. This dialog lets you open  an existing company from the SQL Server.  You can also, open a company from an existing file which has not been added to the SQL Server yet.

To open a company using an existing company in SQL Server:

  1. On the File menu, select Open Company.

  2. Enter the company name, user name, password, and the database name.

  3. Press ok

If you don't remember the database name, click browse button next to the database field. The database list loads all the databases you can open.

To open a company using an existing company file

  1. On the File menu, select Open  Company.

  2. Select Open From File tab.

  3. Select an existing file.

  4. Select the Company Information tab from the Open Company dialog.

  5. Enter the company name, user name, password, and the database name.

  6. Press ok

Note that you must have administrator privileges to open a company from a file.

You open a company from a file only if the file is not being in use by an existing database in the SQL Server. If the file is being in use by an existing database , you must open the company using the above procedures.

Opening a company from a file will attach or add your company database to the SQL Server, so you will open the company from the SQL Server the next time.
